Technology at Miquon

Outdoor learning is woven throughout our curriculum. Time spent observing, exploring, creating, and caring for the natural world nurtures curiosity, resilience, and environmental stewardship.

We believe children learn best through collaboration with teachers and classmates, building communication skills, empathy, and a strong sense of community.

Beginning in Grades 3–6, students use Chromebooks sparingly and with purpose. Chromebooks are used for research, writing, collaboration, and creative projects. Technology supports learning; it does not replace rich, hands-on experiences.

Students learn how to use technology safely, responsibly, and thoughtfully. With guidance from teachers, they develop the habits and judgment needed to navigate an increasingly digital world.

A growing body of research suggests that limiting unnecessary screen time supports children's healthy cognitive, social, and emotional development. Our technology practices are designed to protect space for deep thinking, meaningful relationships, physical activity, and engaged learning.

As students prepare for middle school, they gradually take on greater responsibility with technology with still limited use, building the confidence and skills they will need for the increased digital expectations ahead.
