Financial Aid

The majority of the financial aid budget comes directly from the school’s operating funds. The Board sets aside a portion of the revenue generated by tuition to return as financial aid to families who would otherwise not be able to attend Miquon. A small percentage of financial aid also stems from an endowment fund.

The Financial Aid Committee reviews all applications confidentially and equitably using Clarity’s standardized analysis.

Clarity considers a family’s full financial picture, including taxable and non-taxable income, assets, liabilities, and family size. After accounting for taxes and basic living expenses, a portion of remaining income is considered available for tuition. In general, the greater a family’s available resources, the more they are expected to contribute.

As a general guideline, a family of four with one child entering kindergarten and an income of $150,000 with minimal assets may demonstrate little or no financial need and may not qualify for an award. A similar family earning $60,000 is demonstrating greater need and will be considered for a larger award.

These examples are illustrative only. Individual circumstances vary widely, and factors such as the number of children enrolled in tuition-charging schools can significantly impact a family’s eligibility.

Miquon aims to provide consistent support year to year, so long as your financial circumstances remain the same. Families must reapply annually and awards may change if financial circumstances change.

We require families receiving financial aid to report 5% increases or decreases in income.

Late applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, but funds may be limited.

Families who live in Philadelphia are encouraged to apply to the Children’s Scholarship Fund Philadelphia, a lottery-based program that provides tuition assistance for eligible families.

To qualify, you must be a resident of Philadelphia, fall within the income guidelines, and have a child in grades Preschool 4 through Grade 5. Once your child is chosen, they retain the scholarship each year through eighth grade.

Please note: Children's Scholarship will not be conducting a lottery for the 2027-28 school year. They plan to reopen their lottery in September 2027 for the 2028-29 school year.
