The Class of 1994 Takes Wing . . .
News Flash: the children we knew as sixth graders in 1994 are about to graduate from high school! How can such long-term accomplishments come as such a surprise after all? We're proud of all our alums, and our thoughts follow them on their various paths through life. With this issue of the Miquon Newsletter, we offer a special (alphabetical) look at the 1994 graduates as they leave high school:
Ulysses Andrews was accepted into Princeton University early decision, where he plans to pursue music and premed studies. Eliot Ballard came for a visit to Miquon's Art and Invention Show this year. He will. be attending Oberlin and plans to take classes in creative writing and education. Zachary Baron was accepted to Harvard early action and will start in the fall. Sarah Bishop-Stone will go to Columbia University in New York City. Rachel Fitzgerald's studies will take her to NYU and Greenwich Village in the fall. Lena Glaser is headed for Barnard College this fall and signs herself "class of 2004!" Shoshana Kuriloff will travel to Brunswick, Maine, to attend Bowdoin College. Alix LaCheen will be starting her senior year at Agnes Irwin School. Toussaint Losier was accepted to Harvard University. Anna Mascaro intends to study physical therapy at Ithaca College. Leah Moskowitz is headed to Bard College. Nicolai Rosen was accepted by seven schools and chose the University of California at Berkeley. Jane Saidel will go to Yale University. Clara Waloff has been accepted by Gallatin School at NYU. Mariel Waloff will go to Vassar College. We haven't heard yet from Dylan Mack .(Hey, Dylan, give us a call!)
And here's how Dylan and his mom Barbara responded to that request (thanks!):
Dylan and I just received the Newsletter and wanted to let everyone know what Dylan has been up to since he left Miquon. Dylan attended Archbishop Carroll High School through the end of junior year and decided to do his senior year through independent study. He completed the PA High School requirements early this year and is currently studying Computer Science/Network Administration. When his computer course finishes next spring, Dylan plans to spend some time travelling in Europe and the United States before starting college in early 2002. The independent thinking that Dylan learned at Miquon has served him well! How do you keep up with a group like that? We're lucky that Miquon alumni and alumnae often come back for a visit. Of the 15 alums listed above, 11 came back for the Spring Fair this year, despite what we can only call unpromising weather conditions. It seems they really have Miquon in their hearts -- we certainly have them in ours.
