Big Kids and Little Kids Go To The Pumpkin Farm! On a beautiful day in late October, Lynn's group of 5th and 6th graders went with Beth and Celia's nursery group to a nearby farm that produces not only more pumpkins than we could count but also many kinds of fruit and vegetables and beautiful flowers. We started out in the nursery classroom, then piled into vans and cars for the short trip to the farm. Every child selected a personal pumpkin to take back to school and decorate. It made a lovely wagon-full . . . and then we picked zinnias to make our classrooms pretty. The nursery kids helped Beth and Celia select fruits and vegetables for classroom cooking projects. Although there were some fairly odd combinations in those shopping bags, we're sure they can think of something good to make with all of it. (Lynn's group is still waiting for the final completion of their classroom kitchen, so they decided to hold off on food shopping until their range is intalled.) We had a wonderful time together, and are planning more partnering times to take trips and share favorite books throughout the year. Thank you to the many parents who came along to help with driving and general crowd control. It was a perfect day.
